However, when it was discovered that Women’s breast actually came both bigger and smaller than this then they needed to add a size either side of this scale. Hence the DD and AA. AA is smaller than an A cup, but DD is bigger than a D cup. We’ve come a long way since then as women’s cup sizes go wayyyy beyond even a DD now. However, this initial sizing grade has remained.
