AD: Winning NBA championship in bubble exceeded my expectations

Description

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis admits the feeling of becoming an NBA champion went above and beyond what he expected. As Davis explained in an interview with Adam Caparell of Complex, winning the 2020 NBA title with the Lakers was special not only because it was his first, but because it came inside the bubble. "I think it exceeded it," Davis replied when asked if he felt winning a championship matched his expectations. "Just from the point that it was so tough to win a championship, being in a bubble. To do it in that environment, I think, exceeded our expectations. I learned a lot about myself as a player, as a person, and I think being in that situation was beneficial for everybody."To be able to win and think this is going to be fun, and everything like that, and it was. But when that clock hit zeros, you know, people tell you there's no other feeling in the world like winning a championship, from a basketball standpoint, and when it happened the feeling you're talking about wasn't described perfect enough. I can only imagine what it would've been like celebrating in our home arena with our fans."Davis is reportedly set to become an unrestricted free agent after turning down his $28.7-million player option for the 2020-21 season, though the expectation is that he'll sign a new max deal with the Lakers."No matter what, I feel like I'll always be loved here because we own a championship," Davis said of L.A. "It's a great place to win a championship, like no other place you can think of. I'm just glad I could do it for a historical franchise that's used to winning and wants to win. It lived up to the hype that everybody said it would. It was that and more."
