On offer is this historical shell case matchbox holder/ ashtray. It's in good condition overall, the brass metal retains original tarnishing all over which has created a dullish aged finish; notable scuffs and scratches commensurate with age as well notable corrosion / verdigris specs but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece. It's of traditional form, created from brass shell casings/ bullets which have been put together to create a table matchbox holder and ashtray. The matchbox holder has been beautifully decorated with an engraved / etched design which displays ever so well. ** Please note that one of the cigarette rests is missing (please refer to images) **. The underside of the shell case shows various markings including "75MM M18", "B B Co" and a faint stamp showing two crossed canons. Dated 1942. It measures a decorative 86mm in outer base diameter not including the cigarette rest and 94mm in total height.
